The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed a Marshall County resident in their 50s is the first COVID-19 related death in the county. The person was hospitalized, and no further information is available at this time.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the individual who has died,” said Frances Tougas, public health director at North Valley Public Health. “On behalf of North Valley Public Health, we extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of this individual.”

COVID-19 continues to be widespread with increased activity recently. NVPH encourages all Marshall County residents to continue to take precautions, such as social distancing, practicing good hygiene, wearing masks, staying home when sick and getting tested if symptoms are present. NVPH noted that everyone can do their part to keep families and communities safe by taking these steps to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
