Community Center
The school board Independent School District #561 met in regular session on Tuesday, September 16th at 8:00 p.m. in the community center. The following members were present: John Lovly, Neil Jensen, Joe Rubischko and Tim Hruby, Rozlynn Johnsrud and Leah Bothum. Also present: Superintendent Loberg, Principal Carlson, Business Manager Kelsie Steiger-Krein, GEA members Mrs. Alyssa Nelson and Miss Morgan Sundrud, Student Miss Ellie Nelson and Community Member David Lovly.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m by Lovly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Johnsrud, to approve the September 16th, 2024, meeting agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Rubischko, to approve the August 20th, 2024 regular meeting minutes as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Rubischko, seconded by Lovly, to approve payments for checks # 46586- 46679 and wire payments as listed in report #3.1 A & B, as listed in report 3.1.1. Motion was carried unanimously.
Financial reports were reviewed. Superintendent Loberg reported the district shows an investment balance of $ 1,951,060.08 on August 31st, 2024. (See reports #3.0 attached to the official board minutes).
Patron Concerns:
David Lovly brought forward the concern of ordinance enforcement for the city of Goodridge. Lovly said that he would be attending a city council meeting in October and invited a couple of school board reps to attend.
Student Council Reports:
Principal Carlson reported that Homecoming will be taking place the week of September 23 – 27th and gave an update on the events for the week.
Goodridge Education Association Report:
Mrs. Alyssa Nelson reported they are in the 3rd year of the classroom engagement model for preschool. She also reported that they are seeing the benefits of offering 4 day a week preschool to P4 students. Mrs. Nelson and Ms. Morgan Sundrud reported that teachers have started their READ Act training.

New Business:
A motion was made by Johnsrud, seconded by Rubischko, to approve the set tax levy hearing/date/time/location as December 17, 2024 at 7:00PM in the Community Center during the regular board meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Bothum, to set the 2024 payable 2025 tax levy at maximum. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Lovly, to approve the Agreement for Custody of Pledged Securities as presented in #8.3. Motion carried unanimously.
Personnel:
A motion was made by Johnsrud, seconded by Hruby, to approve the resignation of Kaylani Kiesow, ECFE Assistant. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Rubischko, seconded by Bothum, to approve the hire of Amy Reznicek, ECFE Assistant. Motion carried unanimously.
Donations:
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Jensen, to accept the donations listed in report #10.1. Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Reports: None
Open Forum:
Member Bothum inquired on the Goodridge Forward website, if that will be updated as the building project progresses.
Administrative Reports:
Principal Carlson provided the board with an update on the cellphone policy. Principal Carlson reported grades 8-12 attended a mental health awareness event in Thief River Falls on September, 12. Principal Carlson reported the TRIO rep is starting to work on events for the students to attend. Principal Carlson gave the board an update on the new parking permit for students this year.
Superintendent Loberg provided an update on community ed. Superintendent Loberg gave an update on enrollment numbers. Superintendent Loberg reported Eide Bailly will be attending next month’s board meeting to provide the annual audit report. Superintendent Loberg provided the board with a building project update.
The next regular meeting was set for Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.
