NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLANNING COMMISSION
CITY OF THIEF RIVER FALLS
Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of Thief River Falls will hold a public hearing to consider adoption of a proposed Short Term Rental Licensing Ordinance establishing a licensing program for short term rental operations within the City of Thief River Falls. The ordinance is proposed pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 145A.05 and 375.51 and adopts by reference applicable state laws and Minnesota Rules governing lodging establishments.
The proposed Short Term Rental Licensing Ordinance includes, but is not limited to, provisions relating to:
• Licensing requirements for all short term rental units
• Application procedures, documentation, and background checks
• Occupancy limits, registration of guests, quiet hours, and general operational standards
• Waste management, parking, and on site information requirements
• Compliance with state and local health, safety, and zoning regulations
• Enforcement procedures, penalties, license revocation, and appeals

Notice is further given that the Planning Commission will conduct a hearing on the proposed Short-term Rental Licensing ordinance at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in the City Council Chambers, 405 3rd Street East, Thief River Falls, MN. All persons wishing to comment on the proposed amendment to the subdivision ordinance will have the option to be heard at that time. Persons who wish to submit written comments prior to the Hearing or who have questions should address them to the office of the Zoning Administrator, City Hall, P.O. Box 528, Thief River Falls, MN 56701, or telephone at: 218-681-8506.
