Red Lake Falls – Jason Gervais, 25, died on Saturday, July 15, 2006 as a result of a motorcycle accident near Red Lake Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, Wednesday, July 19 (today), at 10:30 a.m., with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Casket bearers include Russell Gervais, Kenny Gervais, Lester Gervais, Ben Gervais, Steve Almen, Kenny Miller, Adam Houghteling and Danny Proulx. Jason’s son Blake Joseph will serve as an honorary casket bearer. Interment will be held at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Gentilly, following the service on Wednesday.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Jason Harlan Gervais was born January 14, 1981 in Crookston, the son of Harlan “Chip” and Gayla (Gervais) Almen. He attended Lafayette High School and also the Operating Engineer School in Sun Prairie, Wis. His first job was working construction for his uncle in East Grand Forks.
Following his schooling he worked for M Bar D in East Grand Forks and R&R Contractors at Hutchinson. He returned to the Red Lake Falls area and worked construction with his uncle in East Grand Forks and the past few years has driven truck in the local area.
Jason was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed summer and winter fishing he also enjoyed rifle and bow hunting. Spending time with his friends was important but especially loved the time spent with his son Blake.
Jason is survived by his mother Gayla (Dan Miller) Gervais of Mentor and his father Chip Almen of Elco, Nev.; his son, Blake Joseph and Blake’s mother Kristi Schultz of Red Lake Falls; grandparents, Laura Gervais of Red Lake Falls and Harlan G. Almen of Thief River Falls; and Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Norman Gervais and grandmother, Shirley Almen; two aunts, Mary Lou Goats and Kim Miller; and two uncles, William (Roscoe) Goats and Horace (Red) Goats.
