Janice Freitag, 65

 Plummer – Janice I. Freitag, 65, of Plummer, died Sunday, September 24, 2006 in Philadelphia, Penn.
  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, with Father Tim Bushy presiding.  Casket bearers include her sons, Dale, Neil, Gerry, Alan, James and Karl Mattison. Honorary casket bearers included Jan’s grandchildren. Interment will be held at St Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Plummer.
 Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, with a 7 p.,m. prayer service on Thursday evening; and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
 Janice Isabelle LaFebvre was born March 24, 1941 in Red Lake County, the daughter of Alveda and Louise Charest LaFebvre. She was raised on a farm near Oklee and attended school in Oklee, graduating from Pershing High School in Plummer in 1959. Janice was homecoming queen in the fall of 1958.
 Janice was united in marriage to Gene Mattison in Oklee. The couple lived in Milwaukee, Wis., for a time until moving back to Plummer in 1962. They purchased and operated East Side Service in Plummer. Gene died in 1969 and Janice continued to run the East Side Service until the early 1970s. On April 9, 1975, Janice married Jerry Freitag in Winnipeg, Canada. Janice worked at Plummer School until 1984, when she attended and graduated from Northland College with an associate in business degree. She also worked at Northern Motors and Thune Insurance before joining her husband at St. Hilaire Ag Insurance in 1992, until her retirement in 2004.
 She enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling, skiing and the outdoors. Janice loved spending time with her family and friends.
 Janice is survived by her husband Jerry; six children, Dale (Debbie) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Neil (Linda) of Thief River Falls, Gerry Lee of Thief River Falls, Alan (Valerie) of St. Hilaire, James (Teresa) of Thief River Falls, Karl (Nancy) of Amessville, Va.; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Peggy) of Henderson, Nev., and James (Linda) of Sauk Rapids; four sisters, Donna (Lester) Champagne of Aurora, Wis., Eileen (Mark) Walsh of North St. Paul, Carol (Lee) Hagelee of Edina and Marilyn (Donovan) Stoneouse of Thief River Falls; sister-in-law, Becky LeFebvre of Richfield; one brother-in-law, Jim (Shirley) Jaeger of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 
 She was preceded in death by her first husband Gene; her parents; brother, William; and sister, Audrey Jaeger.
