\" Thief River Falls – Eunice Efteland, 91, died on Monday, October 30, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, in Thief River Falls.
  Funeral services were held on Friday, November 3, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Casket bearers included Roy Ness, Jarred Olson, Joshua Olson, Lance Efteland, Jason Efteland and Jeff Benke. Interment was held at  Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
  Eunice Nelson was born on April 1, 1915 in Barnesville, the daughter of Louis and Selma (Arneson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville and also attended school in Barnesville.
  Eunice was united in marriage to Earl Efteland on April 5, 1941 in Thief River Falls. She worked several jobs in Thief River Falls, including Oakland Park Sanatorium, J.C. Penney’s, Dairy Queen and Mr. Duane’s.  Eunice spent the past eleven years at CNC and was well known for her kindness and caring for all the residents.  She will always be remembered for her good sense of humor.
  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, knitting, bingo, playing cards and baking cookies for her grandchildren. Eunice was always helping anyone in need and was best friends with everyone. She was very active with the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
  Eunice is survived by three sons, Larry (Sharon) Efteland, Curtis (special friend, Julie Bruggeman) Efteland and Jim (Judy) Efteland, all of Thief River Falls, Darlene (Jerry) Olson of Newfolden and Nancy (Kevin) Shafer of Cloquet; 14 grandchildren; and many special great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Smith; two sisters, Jeanette Taylor and Vera Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by husband, Earl; one daughter, Shirley “Tudy” one grandson, Tim Efteland; and two brothers: Raymond and Kenneth.
