Grygla – Eileen Thompson, 79, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at Fairview University Hospital, Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church, in Grygla, with Reverend Bob Dahlen officiating. Casket bearers included Steve Hahn, Mike Hansen, Tom Koop, Dale Folger, Jonathan Thien and Dave Kuchera. Interment was held at Lone Oak Cemetery, Minnie Township, Beltrami County.
Eileen Gladys Olson was born October 2, 1927 in Grygla, on the family farm, the daughter of Gideon and Inga (Stenmoen) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended school in Grygla.
Eileen was united in marriage to George Thompson, September 21, 1947 in Thief River Falls. The couple moved to Green Bay, Wis., in 1950 and lived there until 1978, when they moved back to Grygla. She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family.
Eileen and George loved the Jack Pine area by Fourtown. She enjoyed four wheeling, camping, golfing, reading and loved working in her beautiful flower beds and making homemade bread her entire life. Eileen was on the Minnie Township Board, a member of Grygla American Legion Auxiliary and Red Hat Society. She was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Eileen is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth (Gerald) Renier of Green Bay, Wis., and Cynthia (Srba) Brasovan of Crown Point, Ind.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Galen Olson of Two Harbors; two sisters, Ethel Gonnering of Green Bay, Wis., and Violet Wold of Green Bay, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1994; her parents; and brothers, Glen, Kenneth, Lyle, Vernon and Lawrence.
