A Thief River Falls woman has charges pending after she allegedly led law enforcement on a pursuit through three Minnesota counties on Thursday evening. The pursuit eventually ended in Canada after her vehicle crashed the gates at the border of Minnesota and Canada. No one was hurt during the pursuit.
Ashley Alyssa Ingraham, 35, was arrested several miles north of the border by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, according to the Thief River Falls Police Department. She was later remanded to the U.S. Border Patrol, which then remanded her to the Pembina County Sheriff’s Office in North Dakota. She is awaiting an extradition hearing.
The incident started at about 5:25 p.m. Thursday. The Law Enforcement Center received multiple calls regarding an erratic driver near the roundabout at the intersection of Greenwood Street and Pennington Avenue in Thief River Falls. One caller reported a Chevy Tahoe had struck a sign in the roundabout.
Police and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office located the Chevy Tahoe traveling at high speeds west of the City of Thief River Falls. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but Ingraham allegedly wouldn’t stop. A pursuit ensued through Pennington, Marshall and Kittson counties before Ingraham crashed the gates at the border. In a press release, Deputy Police Chief Jaeger Bellows indicated law enforcement made multiple attempts to get Ingraham to stop in a safe manner, but she avoided or ignored those attempts.
