Spring Hill, Fla. – Roy G Lee, 87, of Spring Hill, Fla., and formerly of Thief River Falls, died at home on Saturday, November 24, 2007, after a long fight with asbestos cancer of the right lung.  
    Memorial services were held Friday, November 30 at Nativity Lutheran Church in Weeki Wachee, Fla.
    He was born on  May 13, 1920, in Thief River Falls. He grew up there, graduating from high school in 1938, worked for two years and then attended the University of Minnesota from 1940-44. He graduated with a degree in civil engineering, then enrolled in the Navy CB’s, and received an Honorable Discharge as ensign in 1946.
    He worked a while in Ohio and Michigan before returning to Thief River Falls, to join Lee Plumbing & Heating Co. as manager. While living in Thief River Falls, Roy was a very active volunteer in civil affairs, four terms on the City Council with the last two years as Chairman; six years on Thief River Hospital Board of Directors, President the last term; President of Thief River Country Club and Jobs Inc. Many other organizations included American Legion life member, Elks life member, Chamber of Commerce Board, first group of High School Hall of Fame, and honorary member of the Historical Society of Thief River Falls.
    Roy loved all sports, especially tennis, golf and hunting. He retired in 1985 when he and his wife, Alice, moved to Florida.
    Roy is survived by his loving wife, Alice; two daughters, Judy Johnson (Denny) of Forest Lake and Sylvia Sjoberg (Stan) of Thief River Falls; two sons, Roger Lee (Lisa) of Alamo, Calif., and Michael Lee (Karen), Lake Orion, Mich.; seven living grandchildren (two granddaughters preceded him in death); and two great-granddaughters.            A00003B2007NV05
