\"    Warren – Harveydale Maruska, 86, of Warren,  died Saturday, January 19 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, with his family by his side.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 25, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren. Visitation will be after 5 p.m., with a 7 p.m. sharing of memories on Thursday at the DuBore Funeral Home in Warren and one hour before services at the church on Friday. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Warren.
  Harveydale was born on Nov. 29, 1921 in Tabor, the son of George and Mary (Vavrina) Maruska. He attended school (1-8) in Tabor and graduated from Warren High School in 1938.
    Harveydale attended North Dakota State Agricultural College in Fargo, N.D. Upon graduating, he began farming in the Tabor and Angus communities. He married Harriett Olson on Aug. 27, 1944 in Viking. They made their home on a farm near Angus. Together they raised three daughters, Joanne, Mary Beth and Muriel. The family attended the Presbyterian Church in Angus.
    Harveydale was very active in farming, raising grains and potatoes, and he was named Master Farmer in 1958. Harveydale served as a Minnesota State Representative from 1958 – 1962, and as a Minnesota State Senator from 1962 – 1966. In 1965, Harveydale and Harriet retired from farming and moved to Warren in 1966. From 1967 – 1978, he was a lobbyist for the Minnesota Association of Railroads. Harveydale owned Quality Motors in 1970 through the mid 80s where his interest in cars and meeting and greeting people was an enjoyment for him.
    He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. Harveydale was also active in the Masons, Shriners, Toastmasters and Lions, and a board member of the Minnesota State AAA and the Minnesota State Zoo. Harveydale was a member of the Marshall County Fair Board for over 50 years, serving as Treasurer, Secretary and President. He also served on the Minnesota Fair Board from 1968- 1978, and served as President for four years.
    Harveydale and Harriett loved flower and vegetable gardening. He enjoyed raising corn, pumpkins and squash that he frequently gave to friends. They also loved to travel and enjoyed wintering in Mesa, AZ for 19 years. One of Harveydale’s given gifts was the ability to memorize and recite poetry. He took great pleasure in reciting poetry for community groups, meetings and family. Harveydale shared great times with his grandchildren, Katie, Jenny, and Peter Kostka and Aubrie and Austin Roley. His grandchildren enjoyed the animal pancakes and kolaches he made them, the pumpkins he grew for them and the great stories he told them.
    Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Harriett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Ken Kostka of Plymouth, and Mary Beth and Richard Edman of Warren; son-in-law Rick Roley of Warren; five grandchildren; brother, Morris (Elaine) Maruska of Angus; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Muriel Roley.
