Tiera Bugge and Marek Rux worked together to position a quilt under the watchful eye of Thief River Falls Quilters Guild member RaeAnn Jacobson. The Quilters Guild’s annual quilt show is on display now throughout the month of April at the Thief River Falls Public Library.

The Thief River Falls Quilters Guild invites the public to its quilt show, on display at the Thief River Falls Public Library the entire month of April. More than 100 quilts, wall hangings, table runners, clothing articles, totes and challenge projects are hung throughout the library.

The challenge section of the show this year is a unique combination of a sewing project and community service. Members were encouraged to make a variety of “noodle” pillowcases, which will be donated to various community programs such as foster care, group homes, the Violence Intervention Project, Christmas for Pennington County, homeless shelters, and others after the show is done. Kids are invited to register for pillowcase door prizes during the month of the show.

On Saturday, April 22, an informal workshop will be held at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room. Come and learn how to make a “noodle” pillowcase as guild members demonstrate the process; printed directions will also be available.

Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite quilt or item for the People’s Choice and Kid’s Choice Awards, which will be named each week. Ballots for voting are available with the ballot box. Winners each week will be so designated with a recognition award pinned to their quilt, so visitors are invited to return throughout the month to see the voting results. Winners for the entire month also receive quilting gift certificates.

Chairpeople for the 2023 quilt show are RaeAnn Jacobson, Jan Kramer, Donna Koehmstedt and Glenice Johnson. Challenge project co-chairpeople are Dawn Dyrdal, Laura Nelson and Adele Rosencrans.
