Scott Brekke, Lincoln High School principal is retiring. Brekke’s retirement was accepted Monday, Sept. 11 by the Board of Education for Thief River Falls.
Brekke has been with the Thief River Falls School District for 33 years, 23 years as an administrator. Overall, he has been an educator for 36 years. Brekke’s retirement is effective Dec. 31, 2023.
The District will now be looking for an interim principal. Candidates will be responsible for providing educational leadership by implementing the educational and District initiatives at the building level and directing, supervising and overseeing school operations, personnel and activities.
Superintendent Chris Mills said he will be meeting with the school’s leadership team this week. The District will look for an individual to fill the position long-term in the spring.
Members of the Board of Education praised Brekke for his leadership and dedication. Chairman Ryan Walseth said an individual works their whole life to get to where they can retire, and he hopes Brekke can enjoy his retirement.
Brekke said he and his wife will soon be moving to a house in Grand Forks, and they have planned for a lot of good things going forward.
