\"    Red Lake Falls – Omer Sauve, 81, died on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.  
  Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 23, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, with Father Antony Fernando presiding.  Casket bearers included Jonathan Sauve, Cody Green, Jamie Sauve, Dean Schmidt, Tim Schmidt and Bradley Sauve. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post in Red Lake Falls. Interment was held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.
     Omer Joseph Sauve was born on February 18, 1927 in Crookston, the son of Oscar and Palmier (Sauve) Sauve. He attended rural school in the Red Lake Falls area.  Following school he worked for area farmers. He entered the United States Army on February 10, 1951, served in Korea and was discharged on November 16, 1952.
    After his honorable discharge, Omer returned to Red Lake Falls and was united in marriage to Gloria Marie Houle on December 28, 1954 in Red Lake Falls. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls and Omer worked at the County Highway Department, Ted’s Dairy and the Hospital, until it closed.  Gloria died September 6, 1994.    
     Omer enjoyed serving those in the community by being a member of the Red Lake Falls Volunteer Ambulance and Fire Departments for many years. Omer enjoyed rounding up scrap iron, going to auction sales, gardening, yard work, fishing, camping, deer hunting, and grouse hunting. He loved helping people, visiting with friends and attending the Senior Meals site.
     He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW in Red Lake Falls, until it closed, then the VFW in Crookston.
     Omer is survived by three children, Debbie Wilmot (fiancé, Richard Leach) of Red Lake Falls, Randy (Diane) Sauve of Red Lake Falls and Pam (Craig)  Green of Crookston; six grandchildren;  five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mary Jane Kellenburger of Superior, Wis., Lorraine Schmidt-Brown, James (Elizabeth) Sauve and Jerry (Marlene) Sauve, all of Red Lake Falls, and Michael (Kathleen) Sauve of Rudd, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; his parents; two children: Gary and Renae; and one grandson.
