Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls will celebrate Snofest the week of Feb. 5-9. Snofest is a time for students, alumni, and the community to come together to celebrate school spirit and pride. The theme for Snofest is “Back Through The Decades.”

The following students have been selected as Snofest candidates: 9th grade – Elise Schneider and Gabe Haugen; 10th grade – Aniyah Fields and Cooper Skjerven; 11th grade – Lydia Walseth and Rylan Leake; 12th grade – Hope Ramsey and Caleb Rosendahl. Snofest attendants are Caliah Strand and Coleson Skalsky.

Coronation takes place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 in the LHS auditorium. A dance for students will take place from 9 to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, in the LHS commons.

As part of the Snofest theme, Back Through the Decades, each class has chosen a decade to highlight. Seniors have picked the ’70s, juniors the ’80s, sophomores the ’50s, and freshmen the ’90s.

Several activities and student competitions have been scheduled during the week. Some of the  Snofest competitions include t-shirt sales, commons decorating, activity fest, and attendance at the varsity home events during the week.

Home activities include:
• Monday – girls basketball v. Red Lake Falls at 7 p.m. in the LHS brickhouse (dress up theme is winter wear).

• Tuesday – girls basketball v. Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. in the brickhouse (Cancer Awareness night); boys basketball v. Sacred Heart 7:30 p.m. at the brickhouse (Neon Color day); Swimming v. Moorhead 6 p.m. at the Franklin Middle School pool;

• Wednesday – Snofest broomball game at 8:01 p.m. in the Old Arena (MN Sports Day);

• Thursday – boys hockey v. Red Lake falls at 5 p.m. in the Huck Olson Memorial Civic Center (Class Color Day), and boys basketball v. Bemidji at 7:30 p.m. in the Brickhouse.

An Activities Fest will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8. Candidates will be formally introduced and then participate and cheer on their class teams. Class colors are: seniors – black, juniors – white, sophomores – blue, and freshman – gold.

The class that accumulates the most points during this week will reign over Snofest 2024, and their candidates crowned king and queen of Snofest.
