Daylight could be seen through the western portion of the roof of the Pennington County Fair horse barn on Tuesday, July 8. Seng Construction of Red Lake Falls has been in the process of removing the roof panels and replacing the roof in time for the Pennington County Fair, which starts Wednesday, July 16.

The Pennington County Fair will be held Wednesday, July 16 through Sunday, July 20 at the Pennington County Fairgrounds in Thief River Falls. Admission is free at the gate.

Some highlights include:
• Wednesday, July 16 – The midway opens at 5 p.m. A parade starting at 7 p.m. and traveling from the fairgrounds down Sixth Street, Knight Avenue and Fourth Street before returning to the fairgrounds. The WoodPicks will perform from 7 p.m. to close at the band shell. Fireworks will be on display at dusk from the fairgrounds.

• Thursday, July 17 – A Hard Days Night will perform at 6 p.m. at the grandstand. Ikons of Rock will follow at 8 p.m. Billy Kezar and David Allen will perform from 7 p.m. to close at the band shell.

• Friday, July 18 – The Senior Citizen Program will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the bus garage. The Thunder on Hooves bull ride will start at 7 p.m. at the grandstand. Your Alibi will perform from 7 p.m. to close at the band shell.

• Saturday, July 19 – Norwegian Day activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the bus garage. The second night o the Thunder on Hooves bull ride will start at 7 p.m. at the grandstand. 100 Proof will perform from 7 p.m. to close at the band shell.

• Sunday, July 20 – The kids’ pedal pull starts at 1 p.m. in front of the Huck Olson Memorial Civic Center. Registration starts an hour earlier. At 3 p.m., a program will be held for the 4-H Fashion Revue, 4-H awards, herdsmanship, Farm Family of the Year, Emerging Leaders and Century Farms. The Power Wheels Demo Derby and Demo Derby start at 4:30 p.m. at the grandstand. Elvis will perform from 7 p.m. to close at the band shell.

Advance grand pass tickets for all grandstand events is $50 for adults and $20 for kids 12 and under.

Advance ride tickets are available online at www.amusementattractionsinc.com until Wednesday, July 16 at 5 p.m. They are $26.75 each for single-day unlimited rides and $78.25 for the mega band. (Those amounts include tax.)

Parking is $5 per day or $10 for a season pass. Handicap-accessible parking is reserved by the arenas and grandstand. The public is to only use the west, north and east entrances to the fairgrounds.
