Thief River Falls – Kandy Kay Bratton, 48, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 27 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River falls, with Pastor Bob Dahlen officiating. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Kandy Kay Nelson was born in Roseau on November 9, 1960 to Newman and Jean (Landin) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Moe Lutheran Church and attended public school in Roseau. Kandy worked several jobs throughout her life most often in cafes and restaurants. She most recently worked at the Seven Clans Casino, until her health began to fail. Kandy had a kind heart and enjoyed lending a hand and giving to others. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her son James Bratton of Thief River Falls; sister Dawn Nelson of Thief River Falls; nieces and nephews, Sarah Nelson, Josh Nelson, Christopher Nelson, Gabriel Nelson, Bobby Houle; ex husband, James Bratton; special friend, Jack Smith; as well as many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and son Chris Scholin in 1998.
