On Monday morning, Lincoln High School staff were notified about a potential threat at the school.

Police Chief Marissa Adam told The Times that a male student had sent a message to another student, talking about bringing a weapon to school.

According to information provided to LHS parents, the student involved was marked absent, so LHS immediately moved into a secure mode and locked all exterior doors while law enforcement went to the student’s home.

The message noted, “Law enforcement and school administration checked the building for any potential threats while classrooms remained in a hold mode.”

Adam said interior doors were closed, but remained unlocked as they swept the building. The sweep was clear.

The message noted that law enforcement apprehended the student at home. Adam believed he would be taken to the Northwest Juvenile Training Center in Bemidji.

The secure and hold mode has since been lifted at the school, which is moving into a normal school day.

“We appreciate a student bringing this concern to our building leadership and the swift action by law enforcement and our building leaders to support student and staff safety,” the message said. “Please forward any questions and/or concerns to building or district leaders.”
