\"\"   Thief River Falls – Roger Evenson, 57, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Oakland Park Communities, Thief River Falls.
  Funeral services were held Friday, April 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, with Reverend John Voelker officiating.  Casket bearers included Mike Cerny, Rob Houske, Rocky Jesperson, Jay Nelson, Jack Houske, Larry Roisland, Daniel Nelson and Rick Wold. Honorary casket bearers included Roger's co-workers at Sears, Roger's family and friends and membrs of the TRF Racquet Ball Club. Interment was held at Clearwater Cemetery, Plummer.
    Roger Wayne Evenson was born December 25, 1951 in Thief River Falls, the son of Lester and Esther (Hanson) Evenson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Clearwater Church, Plummer. He attended Knox Elementary School and was a 1970 graduate of Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Roger also attended Northland Technical College in Thief River Falls.
    After graduation, he worked at Lind Motor Company, Bostwicks Department store and at Wilson Brothers for 22 years. In 1995, he became co-owner of Sears in Thief River Falls with Rodney Knutson.  He was one of the owner's of TRF Racquetball Club, Thief River Falls for many years.
    He enjoyed planting trees and flowers and working to beautify his yard. He also enjoyed helping his Mother with a large vegetable garden. He always had time to visit with friends and family.  Roger also enjoyed traveling and his yearly trips to Las Vegas with friends.  After a courageous five-year battle with cancer, he retired last year from Sears. He had a gentle spirit, always upbeat.
    Survivors include his mother, Esther Evenson, Thief River Falls; his beloved cat, Tigger; and many other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his dad, Lester in 1984; sister Donna in 1972; and his grandparents.
