Klamath Falls, Ore. – Carl \Ole\” Thompson, 99, passed away peacefully at Sacred Winds Care Home in Klamath Falls, Ore., on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.
A private committal service was conducted at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. A gathering in his memory will be later this year.
Ole was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Solway, to Christian and Sybilla Thompson.
In December 1935, he married Grace Van Hyfte. He owned a Standard Service Station there until 1944 when the family moved to Thief River Falls, to farm until 1958 when they relocated to Corona, Calif. There, he was an inspector for Johns-Manville.
After his retirement in 1972, they moved to Klamath Falls. He was employed by Merle West Medical Center in maintenance for several years.
He and Grace attended First Church of God, where in 1985 they renewed their marriage vows on their 50th anniversary.
Grace preceded him in death in 1997. He continued to live in his home on Joe Wright Road until January 2012.
He will be remembered as a \”good neighbor.\”
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and Bill Vanderpol of Klamath Falls, Ore.; sons Kayo Thompson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Steven Thompson of Pueblo, Colo.; grandchildren including Brent (Dawn) Vanderpol of Texas, Bob (Teri) Vanderpol of Redding, Calif., Bryan Vanderpol of Klamath Falls, Ore., Kimberly (Brian) Gerardy of Minnesota, and Jill (Cory) Perryman of Minnesota; sisters Edna and Sylvia of Minnesota; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to Grace, he was preceded in death by grandson Robert Owen Thompson and 12 of his 14 siblings.
