Granite Falls – Hazel Beedy, 90, of Granite Falls, formerly of Wood Lake, died on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Granite Falls Hospital.
 Funeral services were held on Friday, April 15 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Casket bearers included her 13 grandchildren, Pat, Allen and Danny Beedy, Terri Stenersen, Warren Formo, Laurie Johnson, Wayne Formo, Mark, Mike and Craig Beedy, Lisa Tait, Jennifer O’Neil and Matthew Arf. Interment was held at the church cemetery.
 Hazel Lucille Beedy was born Sunday, January 31, 1915, to Edward and Hattie (Linde) Neuman in Wood Lake. She was baptized on February 14, 1915 and confirmed on December 16, 1932 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. On December 22, 1931, she was united in marriage to Esper “Dick” Beedy at St. Luke’s Lutheran Parsonage in Posen Township. They lived near Wood Lake, moved into Wood Lake in 1970 and then to Thief River Falls in June 1980. Dick died on July 17, 1981. While in the Wood Lake area, Hazel worked for various businesses in Wood Lake. After her husband’s death, she continued to live in Thief River Falls, until her son David died in March 1985. Hazel then returned to Wood Lake. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake and enjoyed crafts, quilting and playing cads. She loved to spend time with family, having traveled to California a number of times and traveling around the country with friends.
 Hazel is survived by three children, Dean (Gigi) Beedy of Duluth, Shirley Formo of Maynard and Dorothy Lewis of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Beedy of Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter. Also surviving are two sisters, Helen House of Belview and Ione Mensink of Wood Lake.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, David; a sister, Myrtle; and a brother, Elmer.
