Bemidji – Mary Olive Scheuneman, 83, Bemidji died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in a family cemetery in Nebraska.
Mary was born June 27, 1930 in Stromsburg, Nebraska, the daughter of Otto and Marie (Shaw) Wegmann. She was raised and educated in Nebraska. She graduated from Lincoln General Hospital Nursing School in 1950 as a registered nurse. She had lived in various places in Nebraska and Minnesota (including Warroad, Thief River Falls, and Bemidji.)
She was a proud Daughter of the American Revolution, a true Minnesota sports fan, and an avid reader. She was a kind and generous person who took a sincere interest in those around her. Her positive attitude and zest for life never waned, despite her physical challenges. She resided at Autumn Hill Assisted Living and enjoyed developing relationships with those who cared for her there. Mary’s greatest treasures were her friends and family. She played an active role in their lives and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her three children: daughter- Sue (Tom) Ellis of Becida, daughter Nancy (Pete) Sullivan of Bemidji; son, Jim (Beth) Scheuneman of Queen Creek, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Angie (Fathi) Jaafar, daughter of Sue; Erin (Brody) Peterson, Mollie (Darren) Caspers, and Ryan, children of Nancy and Pete; Thomas and Olivia, children of Jim and Beth; four great-grandchildren Ali, Amy, Aisha, and Adam; children of Angie and Fathi; sister, Christine Gonnerman of Lincoln, Nebraska (Bob Kreis).
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joe Wegmann and grandson Matthew Sullivan.
