Tonia Larson, 56, of Twin Valley, MN, formerly of Holt, MN, passed away on December 25, 2015, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

 

 

Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 1, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, MN, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Reverend Robert Behling will be officiating. Burial will be held at Holt Cemetery, Holt, MN, at 4:00 PM.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. A prayer service will begin at 5:00 PM.

 

Tonia Lee Larson was born October 24, 1959, in Thief River Falls, MN, daughter of Orville and Yvonne (Haagenson) Larson. She was raised in the Holt area and attended Holt Public School and graduated from Marshall County Central in 1977. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and the AVTI in Thief River Falls, MN, receiving a degree in Business Accounting. Tonia worked for the US Postal Service in Red Lake Falls, Thief River Falls and Portland OR. She retired from the Postal Service in 2005.

 

In December of 1978, she was united in marriage to Douglas Booth at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. To this union two sons were born, Nick and Jon. In October of 1987 she was united in marriage to Richard Thorfinnson.

 

Tonia enjoyed music and played the tuba in the Thief River Falls Community
Band for many years. She went on several tours to Europe and Australia with the band. She played piano and the organ at several churches. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide. She was a very creative person and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing quilts for her grandchildren. She loved animals and had many cats and dogs over the years. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.

 

Tonia is survived by her sons Nicholas (Carrie) Booth of Twin Valley, MN, and Jonathan (Marie) Booth of Milton, WV; grandchildren Teddy, Dirk, Vance, Miles, Magnus and Leanna; brothers Craig (Mary Jo) Larson of Dilworth, MN, and Jerald (Darcy) Larson of Waverly, MN, along with many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and fellow community band family members.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and infant brother.
