Lambert Brunkhorst, 71

Lambert Brunkhorst

Warroad – Lambert “Brunk” Brunkhorst, 71, of Warroad, passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, with his family by his side in Emily.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake.
Brunk was born July 4, 1944, in Breckenridge to Lillian and Lawrence Brunkhorst. As a youngster, he enjoyed spending time with family, wrestling, football, hunting, and fishing. He graduated from Wahpeton High School, and while he was very proud of his Eagle Scout status, his oldest sister was even more proud of his “best dressed” award. While attending the State School of Science in Wahpeton, he met the “catch of his life,” Ruth “Ruby” Weber. He then graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in industrial arts education.
Brunk and Ruby were married Aug. 24, 1968, in Tintah. They moved to Thief River Falls, where he took his first teaching job and their adventures together began. Soon, they were busy raising their children Jason, Jessica, Justin, Jenny and Joanna.
Brunk had a passion for family gatherings and cooking, most of which revolved around hunting, fishing and football. Another passion of his was woodworking and construction, which led to the building of their first home, their last home up at Arnesen’s Rocky Point near Warroad, and lots of projects in between. His greatest passion, however, will always be his wife, children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren: Hannah, Emily, Nick, Ella, Ruby, Mackenzie and Nolan.
Brunk was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jared; sister, Lila; brother-in-law, Mox Vizenor; and brother-in-law, Donn Weber.
Brunk touched the lives of all who knew him, and will always be remembered for being the big-hearted, social butterfly, and avid outdoorsman he was. Please honor Brunk’s Legacy by joining Ruby and the family up at Lake of the Woods whenever you can make time. The fishing rods will be ready and campfire blazing for fish stories, friends and family!
