Viking – Gerald “Jerry” Kagg of Viking, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Kristen Ostercamp and Minister Dale Knotek officiating. Celebration of life will continue at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Gerald Vernon Kagg was born June 25, 1957 at Santa Rosa, Calif., son of Vernon and Olive Ione (Fordahl) Kagg. He was raised at Hayward, Calif., where he attended school graduating from James Logan High School in 1975. Following graduation he worked for Atari. He owned and operated a woodworking company that later developed into Kagg Construction Company now known as Wingspread Properties.
In January 1984 Jerry was united in marriage to Lisa Jean Stroberg in Maui, Hawaii. The couple lived in Manteca, Calif. To this union, two children were born, Sarah and Kyle. 
Jerry enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and helicopters. He collected vintage snowmobiles, loved designing and building all things, but most of all cherished his time spent with family.
Jerry is survived by his children Sarah (Jacob) Standley of Viking, and Kyle Kagg of Viking; grandchildren Ava and Jace; stepfather John Patton of Union City, Calif.; sister Jean Patton-Baker of Union City, Calif.; brother Kenneth (Vickie) Patton of Moore, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; his lifelong friends Jack and Sinbad.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lisa in 1996 and his parents Vernon Kagg and Ione Patton.
