Willmar – Wilma J. Buisman, 85, of Willmar, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at Bethesda Pleasant View in Willmar.
Funeral services were held Friday, February, Feb. 5 at Vinje Lutheran Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
Wilma was born on Oct.12, 1930, in Holt, the daughter of Alf and Nora (Dovre) Movick. She attended elementary school in Holt and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1948. She continued her schooling by attending Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing in Minneapolis, graduating in 1953 as a registered nurse. She worked as an RN at Bethesda Hospital in Crookston prior to her marriage.
On May 7, 1960, she was united in marriage to James Buisman in Holt. They remained in Crookston for a year before moving to Willmar in 1961. Wilma worked for a short time at Rice Memorial Hospital before beginning a 25 year career at Bethesda Pleasant View, retiring in 1995.
She was baptized and confirmed in Holt and since moving to Willmar has been a member of Vinje Lutheran Church. She was part of Blessed Bakers, Minute Maid Quilters and a circle.
Wilma enjoyed playing piano, singing, crossword puzzles and listening to music as well as her love of animals. Jim remembers the many trips and cruises they took together. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and an arthritis group.
Surviving are her husband, Jim; sons: Bruce Buisman of Danvers; Corey (and Lynn) Buisman of Atwater; four grandchildren: Chris Buisman, Bonni (and Paul) Walker, Alyssa (and Austin) Wuebker, Elizabeth (and Jason) Litzau; six great-grandchildren: Aiden and Addison Buisman, Ethan and Ella Walker, Harrison and Hazel Litzau; and Wilma’s sister, Joyce Mickeslon of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Wesley; and grandson, Jordan Buisman.
