Auburn, Wash. – Ellen D. Lindblom Larson Read died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at Regency of Auburn, Wash., where she had been a resident for the last three years. She was born on April 11, 1920 on a farm in Bray Township, Pennington County. She had three brothers, Harold, John and George Lindblom, and one sister, Mable, all deceased. She also had two half-brothers, Russell and Ralph, and one half-sister Janeth (Dolly). Dolly is the only living sibling and resides in Lander, Wyo.
Ellen went to a country grade school, and attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1938. After high school, she attended a beauty school in Fargo, N.D., and worked as a hairdresser in Thief River Falls. She married Arnold W. Larson in 1939. Six children were born to the couple. Arlan (Butch), Avis, Georgine, G. Edward, Gary and Gregory.
The family moved to Auburn, Wash., in 1962. Ellen worked at the Dietzen bakery on Auburn Way in the 1960’s. Ellen and Arnold divorced in 1969. In 1973, she married Stan Read, who worked for Bechtel Construction Company, which gave Ellen an opportunity to live in several states during his working years. They returned to Auburn in 1984. She was married to Stan for 32 years before his death in 2005. Arnold passed away in 1985.
The two surviving children are Georgine of Auburn and Gary of East Grand Forks. Ellen has 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
