Minneapolis – Oliver "Ollie" Lien passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the VA Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services and burial are scheduled for Wednesday, April 6 at Ft. Snelling Memorial Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Oliver was born Aug. 20, 1933 in Thief River Falls. He was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church in Oklee. Oliver was in the U.S. Army in the middle 1950s, with service in West Germany. Oliver spent many years farming and raising sheep in Oklee. In the late 1970s Oliver relocated to Newport, Minnesota and was employed by Washington County and retired from there. Ollie enjoyed many hobbies and interests, including drawing, painting, ceramics, music and more.
Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, Torger O. Lien and Norma J. (Moe) Lien. He is survived by his brother Norman and his wife (Jean) of Hurst, Texas, several cousins and friends, and relatives in Norway.
