Lennox, S.D. – Debra Kay Blazek, 62, formerly of Thief River Falls, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at her home in Lennox, S.D.
    A memorial service will be held Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m. at the Thief River Falls United Methodist Church.
    Debra was born Dec. 27, 1953, in Thief River Falls to Eldred D. and Mathilda (Wiebe) Johnston. She attended school in Thief River Falls.
    In October 1970, she married Jerome Blazek from Greenbush. She worked at different jobs until she joined Arctco Inc. When Arctco set up a plant in Madison, S.D., she transferred to that plant. Upon leaving Arctco, she moved to Ogallala, Neb., and worked as a dispatcher in the county sheriff’s office. After a couple of years, she moved back to Madison to be closer to her family.
    Survivors include two sons, Richard Blazek of Lennox, S.D., and Joel Blazek of Thief River Falls; three grandsons, Hunter, Cooper and Nick; sisters, Shirley (Vernon) Potucek, Warren, and Melba (Donald) Laidley, Thief River Falls; brothers, Douglas (Janet) Johnston, Thief River Falls, and Delbert (Jeannie) Johnston, Casselton, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
    Debra was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
