Henry Bendickson was born on August 23, 1922, to parents Benhard and Helen (Longevan) Bendickson on the family farm in Grand Plain Township, Marshall County, MN.  He attended School District 120 in Germantown through eighth grade and later graduated from Goodridge High School in 1939.  He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Germantown by Pastor E.O. Sabo.
His dad passed away when he was ten and his mom kept the farm running until Henry took over in 1939.  Over his lifetime of farming, Henry had dairy cows, beef cattle, and raised small grains.  Henry loved life on the farm!  Henry retired from farming in 1992, but stayed on the farm which became a Century Farm in 2012.
He was united in marriage to Deloris Panek on August 25, 1945 at her parent’s home by Rev. E.O. Sabo.  The couple made their home on the Bendickson family farm in Grand Plain Township, Marshall County, MN.  To this union five children were born, Dennis, Judy, Robert, Karen and Tom.
Henry loved music and played the accordion for many dances in the area.  He also played guitar and keyboard by ear without any formal training.  He and Deloris loved snowmobiling, spending time fishing at Red Lake, going to dances with friends, traveling throughout the United States, and spending winters in Tucson, AZ.  He had a great sense of humor, a twinkle in his eye and had a healthy appetite.
He served on the F.H.A. board for one term and was the township assessor for a number of years.  He also served as sexton for the Zion Cemetery at Germantown for many years and was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge.
