Bandits sweep two from EGF

It was a good send-off for Thief River Falls  Thursday as Post 117 swept visiting East Grand Forks 8-7 and 6-4 in an American Legion baseball doubleheader at the Multi-Events Center.
Dylan Manderud and Brady Hoffard both had complete-game pitching performances. Manderud worked the opener, striking out five and walking four. Hoffard handled the nightcap, striking out three and walking four.
Aaron Berzinski and Landon Kruckeberg both had three-hit games in the opener.
Brendan Vigen and Kade Nelson had two-hit efforts to lead Thief River Falls’ Game 2 offense.
Game 1 was a walk-off win for the Bandits, who trailed 7-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before a six-run comeback kicked in.
An early 1-0 East Grand Forks edge in the nightcap disappeared with a three-run Thief River Falls third inning. The two teams had a matching three-run fifth.
The 4-9 Bandits are now preparing to hit the road for three doubleheaders in a week’s span. The games will be at Moorhead Thursday, July 7; Alexandria Tuesday, July 12; and Bemidji Thursday, July 14.
Thief River Falls will close out the regular season with a Tuesday, July 19, twinbill against Fergus Falls.
The Bandits’ final five opponents are all Minnesota Division I Sub-State 14 foes. Thief River Falls will host the state-qualifying Sub-State 14 tournament July 21-24. Perham will round out the eight-eight, double-elimination event.
