The family moved back to Thief River Falls in July 2002. Gannon would have been a freshman at Lincoln High School in the fall.

Most of all Gannon loved the time spent with family and friends and whatever his little sister Aliya wanted him to do.
Gannon was naturally smart; he joined the math league mostly because he wanted to get out of school early and to be with his friends. He also won the eighth grade spelling bee and was quoted as saying “the first time in your life you win something and you did not want to win it.”
Gannon was very active in Choir and loved all aspects of music. Gannon was a very kind hearted, genuine, and caring young man. He had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh or lift their spirits during a difficult time. Gannon had a love for animals that they could sense.
