Thief River Falls – William “Bill” Weigelt of Thief River Falls, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday Aug. 3, 2016 at his home.
Honoring Bill’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service, but a “Night of Remembrance” will be held starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at the Eagle’s Club, Thief River Falls.
Bill was born on May 27, 1948 in Thief River Falls, to Margaret (Benson) Weigelt and Walter Weigelt. He attended Northrup Elementary School. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1966. He attended Moorhead State and graduated in 1970.
Bill held many jobs throughout his life. He worked for the Thief River Falls Post Office, served as a bartender at the American Legion, and finished his working years at Falls Liquor.
He was fortunate to retire early and spend his final years doing the things that he enjoyed, such as being outdoors in the summertime, reading the newspaper and working on crossword puzzles, and curling at the TRF curling club. He also looked forward to watching his grandson’s sporting activities – rarely missing a game. Talking sports and politics over a beer was a loving pastime of his.
Bill’s family and friends were his love. His children, Heather and Ben were the light of his life. He was their biggest fan in whatever they did. He was a devoted father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend.
