Doris Norquist

Roseau – Doris M. Norquist, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at LifeCare Manor in Roseau at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Interment will be at the Malung Cemetery.
Doris was born in Roseau to Albin and Mable (Magnusson) Roseen on Feb. 19, 1928. She attended grade school in Malung and graduated from Roseau High School. She married Rod Norquist on Sept. 9, 1947.  They had two daughters, Sharon and Barbara.
Doris worked at the Co-op store, Red Owl, and was the secretary for OK Machine Co. until she retired. She was active in the community, auxiliaries, and church.  She and Rod had a large garden on Rod’s home place north of town, and they provided delicious vegetables to their family and friends and were huge contributors to Moe Market Days. Doris and Rod were wonderful parents and grandparents, and they spent much of their time following their grandchildren’s many activities as they grew up. Doris also loved to spend time with her great-grandchildren as they were her pride and joy.
In 2007, Doris moved into Oak Crest Assisted Living where she spent seven years until recently moving to LifeCare Manor where she spent the last 10 months.  She received wonderful care at both facilities. We are so thankful for the staff there who took such good care of her.
Doris will long be remembered for her warmth, selflessness, generosity and kindness to all who knew her. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and she had a gentle soul that was a comfort to her family and many friends. She saw the good in everyone, and to know her was to love her.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Brian) Pelowski of Roseau and Barb (Rocky) Ammerman of Thief River Falls;  grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Pelowski, Dawn (Andy) Hedlund, Dionne Ammerman and Leslie (Carter) Rogalla; great-grandchildren, Maren, Abby, Riley, Alexa, Haylie, Carlie, Avery, Logan, Alyssa, Landon and Savannah; siblings, twin sister Deloris (Glenn) Schmock, Mertrice (Vernon) Cole, Kermit Roseen, LeRoy (Barb) Roseen, Wayne (Joanne) Roseen and Luann (Randy) Holwell, as well as many nieces and nephews. A special thank you, also, to MaryAnna Pelowski for always being there for Doris – she was like another daughter to her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodney; brothers-in-law, Everett Olson and Lowell Johnson; sister-in-law Una Roseen; nephew Terry Roseen; and her parents, Albin and Mable Roseen.
