Pequot Lakes – Darlene Larson, 85, of Pequot Lakes, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 at Heritage House in Pequot Lakes. Interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.
Darlene Adell Westerlund was born on Aug. 2, 1931 in Red Lake Falls, the daughter of Oscar and Ethel (Gilman) Westerlund. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer, with the class of 1949.
Darlene was united in marriage to Herbert Derosier and they made their home in Brooks.  To this union four children were born, Steve, Tony, Debra and Tom.  
In 1968, Darlene moved with her daughter, Debra to Waukegan, Ill., and Darlene worked at Johns-Mansville.  On July 22, 1972, Darlene married Donald Larson and in 1982 the couple moved to Crosby. After Donald’s death in 1989, she moved to Thief River Falls. After being diagnosed with dementia in December  2012, she was admitted to the Valley Home Memory Care Unit in Thief River Falls and later transferred to the Heritage House in Pequot Lakes, where they cared for her until her passing.
She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and quilting.
Survivors include her children Tony (Julie) Derosier of Erskine, Debra (Randy Versdahl) Champagne of Brooks, and Tom (Diane) Derosier of Evansville, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Roger (Lynn) Westerlund of Cohasset.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen; husband, Donald; and her brothers, Raymond, Vernon and Alvin Westerlund.
The family greatly appreciates the care and love provided by the Heritage House for their mother.
