Thief River Falls – Lorraine Novak, 71, Thief River Falls, passed away, surrounded by her friends at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, on Monday, Sept. 5, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Dr. Paul Adams officiating. Interment will take place at the Gust National Cemetery, Thief Lake.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at Johnson Funeral Service.
Lorraine Agnes Novak was born on April 20, 1945 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Frank and Ann (Kopecky) Novak. She attended country school at Grass Lake, Roseau County. Lorraine attended and graduated from Middle River High School, Middle River.
Following high school Lorraine worked as a housekeeper and nanny for a few years in East Grand Forks.
After moving to Thief River Falls, Lorraine was active at the Northern Lights Bookstore doing volunteer activities. She loved to visit with the customers there and sing songs with Judy Halvorson.
In Spring 2015, Lorraine moved to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Prior to that, she lived with Paul and Anita Adams for 16 years. They became family to Lorraine.
Lorraine loved shopping and collecting dolls. She also cared deeply for special needs animals. She enjoyed going to the Humane Society and visiting the dogs and cats.
Lorraine is survived by her sister, Dorothy Siepmann of Sydney, Australia; special family, Paul and Anita Adams of Thief River Falls; special friends, the staff at Pioneer Memorial Care Center and Vicki Heckman of Thief River Falls; several other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ann Novak; brother, Robert.
