Babbitt – James  Solberg, age 87, of Babbitt, passed away Friday Sept. 30, 2016 at Carefree Living in Babbitt.
A memorial service will be held Saturday Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Babbitt, with  family greeting friends one hour prior to service.  Interment will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery, Oklee.  
James was born on Nov. 11, 1928 to John and Malla (Bagstad) Solberg in Pennington County.  He was born and raised on the family farm.  James was baptized and confirmed at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Oklee.  James graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946 in Thief River Falls.  He continued farming after graduating high school.  James was drafted in the US Army from 1953 to 1955.  Then worked for Reserve Mining Company and returned back to farming.
James enjoyed socializing with family and friends and spending time with his youngest brother and family.  He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Babbitt.
James is survived by his brother Merlin (Maxine) of Babbitt and was a very special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Garvin, Orlando, Elmer and sister Iola Wilson.
