Virginia – Funeral service for Scott Dean Hinrichs, 47, of Virginia will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower with Pastor Liz Cheney officiating.  
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery.  Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.
Scott died Friday, December 16, 2016 following a courageous five year battle with colon cancer surrounded by his parents and brothers at his parents’ home.
He was born on May 24, 1969 to Stephen and Beverly (Sigerud) Hinrichs in Buffalo. He grew up and attended school in Cook, graduating from the Cook High School, Class of 1987.  Scott continued his education at Mesabi Community College where he earned an AA degree in marketing and management. He was currently employed as a fiber optics splicer for ComLink Midwest in Plymouth. 
Scott was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed the annual Muskie Tournament on Lake Vermilion with family and friends and the City Auto Glass Walleye Tournament with his brother, Chad competing against his Dad and brother, Lance.  Scott took great pleasure in spending time camping with his three daughters and attending their activities.  
Survivors include his three daughters: Emma, Sofi, and Hilde Hinrichs of Virginia; his parents: Stephen and Beverly Hinrichs of Lake Vermilion; two brothers: Chad and his daughter, Brianna of Angora and Lance and his daughters, Mataya and Courtney of New Hope; maternal grandmother: Hulda Sigerud of Thief River Falls; his godparents: Virgil Sigerud of Bloomington and Peggy Langevin of Hamel, MN; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Axel; grandparents, Ernest and Mabel Hinrichs and Otto Sigerud; two uncles, Ernie and Orlie Hinrichs; and an aunt, Patricia Nelson.
