Thief River Falls beat East Ridge 4-1 Monday in the opening day of the 2016 Schwan Cup girls high school hockey tournament.
The Prowlers are playing in the Gold Division portion of the event at the National Sports Center in Blaine and Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
Second period power play goals by Hannah Enge and Callie Fagerstrom put Thief River Falls up 2-0.
Madison Poole made it a three-goal difference at 9:42 of the third period.
An East Ridge goal at 12:18 was countered by an empty net goal by Kora Torkelson at 16:56.
It was a 21-save game for Thief River Falls goalie Mariah Nelson.
