Staples – Ida Diehl Frodahl, 96, of Staples, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Lakewood Health Systems Care Center in Staples.
The memorial service for Ida was held Thursday, December 22, at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples.
Ida was born July 9, 1920 in Goodridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Hans and Ragnhild (Olson) Fjeld.  She grew up and attended school in Goodridge, graduating from Goodridge High School in 1938. On October 13, 1939 she was united in marriage to George Henry Diehl, in Goodridge. The couple farmed at Smiley Township, near Thief River Falls.  George passed away in 1964.
Ida began working as an Avon representative and as a secretary in the nurse’s office at Lincoln High School.  She was remarried, to Max Frodahl in Thief River Falls, on November 9, 1974.
Following her retirement from the school, Max and Ida enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel, particularly to Texas. Max and Ida moved to Cambridge, and then to Mora. Sadly, Ida was widowed again in 2004 and moved to Staples in 2005.
She was an avid walker, walking to and from work and around the neighborhood, never missing a day.  She also enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting and embroidery as pastimes, and very much enjoyed visiting with her family.  She moved to the Care Center in Staples two years ago.
Ida will be missed by her children, Vonnie Diehl, of Staples, Kae Rude, of Cushing, Jan Axton, of Detroit Lakes, Judi Poppenhagen (Kip), of Maple Grove, and Doreen Moore (Dave), of Ham Lake; two stepchildren, Claudia Salisbury and Christina Haverty; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Ragnhild Fjeld; her husbands, George Diehl and Max Frodahl; three sisters, Betsy, Alma, and Marie; five brothers, Henry, Otto, Oscar, Melvin, and Alvin; a son-in-law, Harlan Rude; and a granddaughter, Pamela Walton.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service of Staples.
