Thief River Falls – Frances Parsley of Thief River Falls, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Thief River Care Center at the age of 95.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 29, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Thief River Falls, with Larry Mogen officiating. A luncheon will follow at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls.
Frances Corean Amundson was born June 30, 1921 at home in McIntosh, the daughter of Alma Amundson. She attended country school through the eighth grade.
On Nov. 4, 1939, Frances was united in marriage to Harley Parsley. The couple enjoyed living on the farm near Oklee and raising their family there. She worked at Oklee Manufacturing for many years. In 1993, they moved to Thief River Falls and in 2013 she moved into Valley Home.
Frances was a member of the Thief River Falls congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized as a member in 1952.
Frances enjoyed sewing, macramé, knitting, crocheting, cooking, ceramics, and quilt making. She especially enjoyed spending time with the family.
Frances is survived by children: Harold Parsley of Oklee, Kenneth Parsley of Brooks, Betty (Wally) Hanson of Thief River Falls, and Lyla (Gary) Dobson of Thief River Falls; grandchildren: Wade Parsley, Chad (Amy) Parsley, Karleen Delorme, Duane (Melissa) Parsley, Scott Parsley, Jeremy (Michelle) Hanson and Krystal (Jared) May; 12 great grandchildren; sister: Lois Hoaas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harley Parsley; grandson, Jacob Parsley; parents and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Parsley; sister, Lorraine Shetterly; brother, Edward Parsley
