Northfield – Lewayne “Gus” Gustafson, 69, passed away on January 8, 2017, in Northfield.
Gus was born in Viking, on November 14, 1947, to Clarence and Annie Gustafson, who have preceded him in death.
He is survived by his three sons: Chad Gustafson (Jeimmy) of Red Wing, Jeremy Gustafson (Patty) of Rochester, and Sean Gustafson of Northfield, and his grandsons; by his best friend and partner for the past 16 years, Linda Stanton, and her six children and their families; and by his siblings: Arlene Hanson (Wallace) of Viking, John Gustafson (Leona) of Viking, Larry Gustafson (Carmen) of Thief River Falls, and Ione Brinkman (Bill) of Roseau.
After graduating from high school, Gus served in the United States Army for two years. When he finished his military service, he learned home improvement trade skills, which he used throughout his life to benefit others. He moved to southern Minnesota after he started his family and remained in the area. Gus enjoyed working for a few different companies throughout his life and finished his career with Malt-O-Meal in Northfield.
Gus was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered for his kind heart, love of family and friends and fun sense of humor.
Services will be held in the spring at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
