Skime – Brian Wesley Olson, 40, died on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, near his home in Skime.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, October 29 at the Grygla High School.
Brian Wesley Olson, the son of Lois (Storey) and Marlin Olson was born in St. Paul, MN on May 20, 1965.
Brian was raised in Skime. He attended school in Grygla, graduating from Grygla High School in 1983. On August 12, 1989 Brian and Judy (Verbout) were united in marriage in Grygla. They lived in Skime where they owned and managed Olson’s Skime Store together. They have two children, Brock (14) and Heather (11). Brian did carpentry in the area and was also a cattle farmer. He worked at Marvin Windows and Doors from 1983 until 1999. He was baptized and confirmed by Erling Huglen at the Bethesda Lutheran Church.
Brian enjoyed playing, and watching sports very much. Hockey, football, basketball, boating, four-wheeling, water sports, fishing and hunting were all important to him. He was an “all conference” football player in high school, and played on the Grygla Flames Hockey team, which he helped organize. He also helped organize the youth hockey program in Grygla. He was an organizer in everything he did. He added an extra spark to a crowd and any activity he was involved in. He also enjoyed deep-frying turkeys and made them for many people. He loved the time he spent with his family and friends. He adored his best friend and wife Judy Mae along with his children, Heather and Brock. Brian had a love of life and shared his passion with everyone. Brian will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Brian is survived by his wife Judy, and his children, Brock and Heather of Wannaska; parents Lois and Marlin Olson of Wannaska; brothers Duane (Mary Jo) of Wannaska, Rick (Susie) of Grygla, Greg (Shaunna) of Grygla; brothers and sisters in-law Audrey and Rick Stark, Lois and Tim Anderson, Jean and Dan Schulz, Carol and Tony Wiseth, Joanne and Gerry Tharaldson, and Jimmy and Brandi Verbout; 27 nieces and nephews, and also numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brother Calvin in 1976, his grandparents, and his mother-in-law Shirley Verbout, and father-in-law Rolland Verbout.
