Corrine A. Swenson, 75
Middle River – Corrine Ann Swenson, of Middle River, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at her residence in Middle River, at the age of 75.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. Interment followed at Ringbo Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Holt.
Corrine Ann (Olson) Swenson was born at home on September 20, 1941 in Falun Township, the daughter of George and Ida (Karlstad) Olson. In 1957 Corrine was baptized and confirmed alongside her sisters, Kay and Carol at their home. Corrine attended grade school in Salol, and attended high school in Roseau.
Corrine was united in marriage to Eldon Swenson on March 5, 1960 at the Pine Grove Church in Pencer. They made their home on Eldon’s family farm. Corrine was a hard-working farm wife and housewife until her husband became disabled. She then worked as a nurse’s aide for over 25 years at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Corrine’s favorite pastimes were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, reading, watching TV, dancing, embroidering, gardening, and yard work. She loved to visit and have company. Corrine also enjoyed collecting Denim Days and porcelain dolls, decorating for Christmas, and spending time with her family during all the holidays and birthdays. Corrine took many memorable bus trips with friends and family.
Corrine was a member of Ringbo Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid until its closure. She then joined Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. Throughout the years Corrine was a member of the Ringbo Homemakers, helped with election judging for East Valley Township, the Holt Quilting ladies, Christian Women’s Club, Middle River Community Club, and the Golden Girls (retired Oakland Park gals). She was an honorary member of the Middle River Sportsman’s Club (cooking and pulling pork for Goose Fest).
Corrine is survived by her children: Cecelia “Tootsie” Swenson and her special friend, Jim Frederick of Middle River, Rebecca (Mitch) Brodersen of Newfolden, Cynthia (Bruce) Pepperling of Roseau, Dawn Blank and her special friend, Rick Peterson of Newfolden, and Robert Swenson and his special friend, Rebecca Anderson of Middle River; grandchildren: David John Vickaryous, Nicole (Preston) Lenz, Brandon (Ali) McBride, Hayden Brodersen, Steven Kukowski and Sara and Ashley Kukowski and Mike, Heather, Kristian, Teila, and Nick Pepperling, Dylan and Sawyer Eisenbarth, Colton, Walker, and Emma Blank, and Cody and Cari Swenson; great-grandchildren: Hailey Lundgren, Tristan Lenz, Bryliegh and Iliana McBride, Blaine Olson, Stetson and Sutton Kukowski, Audrena, Kenna, and Harper Pepperling; sisters and brothers: Carol (Jay) Garthus, Ione (Tom) Fillmore, Kay (Gene) Sistad, Janice (Adrian) Neisius, Charles Olson, Ron (Carla) Olson, and Diane (Andrew) Thiessen; sister-in-law: Eileen Frigard; special friends: Cathy Erickson and Helga McBride; and the quilting gals of Nazareth Lutheran; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; daughter, DeLayne McBride; grandson, Caleb Vickaryous; her parents, George and Ida Olson; brothers, Gerald and LeRoy Olson; sister, Elaine Sundahl; mother-in-law, Emma Swenson and brother-in-law, Hank Frigard.
