Thief River Falls –  Gladys Larson of Thief River Falls, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D,, at the age of 93.
    Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating.  Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
    Gladys Eileen Larson was born on June 17, 1923 in Aitkin, to Henry and Hazel (Borg) Hedlund. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Eksjo Lutheran Church, Lake Park. Gladys attended and graduated from Lake Park High School.  She later attended Globe Business College and College of Medical and Lab Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Gladys served in the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps at San Leandro Hospital in California. She was also employed at Abbott Hospital as Assistant Record Librarian.
    On August 25, 1956 Gladys was united in marriage to Irvin Larson in Mora. To this union, three children were born: Mary Kay, Jim and Kathryn.  The coupled lived in Detroit Lakes, Minneapolis, and Thief River Falls. Gladys was employed at Northwestern Hospital as a Nurse Aide for 10 years.
    She is survived by her husband, Irvin Larson, Thief River Falls; sisters, Marlys Young of Fargo, ND and Marcella Erickson, Detroit Lakes, MN; brothers, Jim Hedlund of Detroit Lakes, Robert Hedlund of Detroit Lakes; children, Mary Kay Hawrelok of Grand Forks, ND and Jim Larson of Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Gladys was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Larson; granddaughter, Diana Triplett; her parents, Henry and Hazel Hedlund; her sisters, Virginia Kiehl and Rose Evans; her brothers, Wallace Hedlund and Clarence Hedlund.
