He was baptized on November 7, 1943 and confirmed on December 29, 1957 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of New Solum Township, Marshall County. He attended Holt School and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1962.
On March 7, 1964, Jerry was united in marriage to Janice Tallum in Newfolden. To this union five children were born, Greg, Rob, Mike, Sheila and Kim. They made their home in Stephen for a couple of years where Jerry worked at the potato house.  When they moved to Thief River Falls, Jerry worked at Anderson Bros. 66, then Kiewels where he drove pepsi truck, later to Hydra-Mac and Arctic Cat.
In 1967, the family moved to their farm in New Solum Township where they raised their family, farmed small grains, and milked dairy cattle. In 1977, Jerry started working construction, where he worked until retirement.  Jerry was proud of his work with AA and was sponsor to several other members.
Jerry enjoyed deer hunting with his family and watching grandkids play sports. He loved to dance and also loved working for the Anderson Farms of Viking during the farming season. Following in his Dad’s footsteps, Jerry had a passion for horses. He worked and raised all kinds of horses from Shetland ponies to Belgians.
Jerry loved to visit, share stories and tell jokes. He liked to study, learn and share genealogy of his own family history with anybody that would listen.
