Goodridge – Joseph Jagol 75, of Goodridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at  Faith Lutheran in Goodridge, with Reverend Kristin Ostercamp Officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Joseph John Jagol was born January 3, 1942 at the farm home in Angus, son of Alec and Anna (Boychenko) Jagol. He was one of 12 children. Joe attended country school in Angus, walking up the hill both ways and enjoyed lard and jelly sandwiches.
After completing 9th grade in Warren, Joe worked on the family farm. He entered the National Guard–basic training was at Fort Chaffee, AR. He worked in the potato fields near Grand Forks and helped again at the family farm.
In 1964, Joe married Sharon Martinson and to that union Sherri Ann and Scott Alec were born. From Angus, they moved to the Iron Range in 1968 and settled in Zim. Joe worked for United Taconite and with the love of farming, he raised cows, pigs, chickens and ducks, no hay burning horses.
Always being a wheeler and dealer for anything with motors, Joe raced snowmobiles and did quite well. He was always hardworking, honest and kind. Joe was a Ford Man all of his life.
In 1976, they sold the place in Zim and Joe went back to his life’s passion, farming in the Goodridge area. He farmed with Margie until they retired in 2012, but continued to help Roger and Robert during the spring planting and fall harvest.
Joe had a love for classic country music and loved to play his guitar for the grandchildren, family and friend gatherings. If he was not working in his shop, he would drive around looking at the crops and stopping in to visit family and friends. If you stopped in, coffee and sweets were always offered. He enjoyed spending time at the casino playing Black Jack with his friends.
Joe and Margie spent the last 23 years winter vacationing in Nevada. Joe also enjoyed driving antique cars in the local parades. Just this year he purchased his lifelong dream car, a yellow convertible Thunderbird.
Joe was always there to help others and was great to help Margie at the Historical Society with many projects. He also enjoyed mowing the lawn and gardening with Margie.
Joe is survived by his companion Margie Coan of 23 years, children Sherri (Lorne) Rose of Avon,  and Scott Jagol of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Alec (Lucy) of Elk River, Johnathan (Miranda) of Albany, Ashley of Greenbush, and Christopher of Thief River Falls; great-grandchildren Kylie, Jace, Carson and Vanessa, Kiley, Gaven, Makya and Willow; children Marcia (Brian) Culkins, Roger (Roxann) Coan, Robert (Deanna) Coan and Michelle (Jason) Richard; grandchildren Jonas, Megan (DJ), Vivian, Jordan, Mariah, Mercedes, Spencer, Morgan, Maizie, Lane and Gabe: Siblings Jane Jorgenson of Eveleth, Alice (Ed) Nephew of Fertile, Joyce (Orlin) Lerol of Thief River Falls, Evie Kalsnes of Forrest Lake, Ed (Arlene) Jagol of Thief River Falls, Arlene Tholkes of Columbia Heights, Donna Holmes of Gilbert, Sandy (Greg) Johnson of Warren; uncle Donald Jagol of Fertile, MN; aunt Inez Jagol of Fertile, MN; sisters-in-law Ursela Jagol of Germany and Jean Jagol of Virginia; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
