Thief River Falls – Roger Joseph Reuter, 74, passed away suddenly while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
Memorial Mass will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Rick Lambert Presiding. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will take place from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls.
Roger was born to Leo and Margaret (Langenfeld) Reuter on July 1, 1942 in Hastings, Minnesota. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1960. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy and then attended Rochester Junior College.
Roger married Jane Reistad on January 14, 1966. They lived in Hastings and Two Harbors, Minnesota before settling in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. His wife, Jane, passed away due to cancer in 2006.
On July 31, 2010 Roger married Kathy Nesemeier in Fargo, North Dakota. Roger worked in banking all his life and was involved in many community and charitable organizations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, hanging out with friends and family, and going to Arizona in the winter.
Roger is survived by his wife Kathy; his 3 children and 4 step children, Kathy (Mark) Steichen, Overland Park KS, Tim (Kristina) Reuter, Grand Forks ND, Kristin (Mike) Schiltz, Detroit Lakes, Nola (Jerry) Radermacher, Fargo ND, Tom (Dawn) Weber, Albertville, Brenton Nesemeier, Fargo ND, Preston Nesemeier, Stillwater OK; grandchildren Jenna and Derek Steichen; Nick and Alexis Reuter; Jacqueline, Hunter and Evan Yliniemi; Emily, Payton and Kacy Schiltz; Grant and Sydney Radermacher; Madelyn and Adeline Weber; and one great granddaughter, Aubree Jane Reuter.
Roger is also survived by his siblings Sister Mary Reuter, OSB, Rosalie (Ken) Klimisch, Sylvia Sultenfuss, Larry Reuter, Chuck (Debbie) Reuter and Doug Reuter along with many nieces and nephews.
Roger is preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Reuter; his parents, his sister, Sister Evangeline, OSB; and brother, James.
