Thief River Falls – Marion Opal Wold, a longtime resident of Thief River Falls, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, at the age of 95.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls with Reverend John Golv and Reverend Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
    Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
    Marion was born January 11, 1922 in Thief River Falls to Oliver and Anne (Schie) Holmen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940. In September of that year she married Lawrence (Lars) Wold. They lived for a brief time in Marshall, and Chicago, IL before returning to Thief River Falls when Lars was drafted for WWII.
    Marion was very active in Zion Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school, quilting for missions and was involved in Circle. She worked in the men’s department at Bjorkman’s clothing store for 21 ½ years. She also worked as a volunteer in the hospital gift shop for over 20 years. She was also involved in girl and boy scouts.
    She is survived by her children: son, Larry and daughter-in-law JoAnn of Detroit Lakes, daughter, Diana Buboltz and son-in-law Norman of Anchorage, AK and son Richard and daughter-in-law Trudy of Thief River Falls. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Larry III and his wife Ann, Jonathan and Christopher Wold, Michael Atkinson and his wife Carrie and Stephanie and Anthony Wold and his wife Denise; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Eileen Verant and her husband Gary of Hibbing.
    Marion is preceded in death by her father, Oliver, her mother, Annie and two sisters, Olive and Adeline. Marion’s husband of 48 years, Lars, passed away in 1988.
