Thief River Falls – Ina Jensen, 91 of Thief River Falls, formerly of Highlanding, died peacefully of old age on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls.
    Funeral service were held  on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Ekelund Lutheran Church rural Goodridge, with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Burial followed at Highlanding Cemetery west of Highlanding.
    Ina Leone Crown was born on September 20, 1925 in Warren, to Lloyd and Elvina (Bloom) Crown. She was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed at Rosewood.
    Ina grew up during the depression near Huot, (near Red Lake Falls) and attended grade school there. In the winter she had to skate across the river to get to school and was ferried across the river in open water.
    Ina graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the class of 1943 during the war.  
    She met her future husband, Max Jensen at a Sons of Norway Dance in Thief River Falls and the couple was married on September 29, 1943 at Mavie, by Rev. E.O. Sabo. They made their home on the Jensen Family Farm near Highlanding which will be a Century Farm in July of 2017.  
    Ina was a stay at home mom on the farm to her ten children, Dennis, Janice, Karen, Glen, Lois, Donald, Jerry, Kendall, Kermit, and Joani. She could do most anything from milking cows, driving tractor, grinding valves on the kitchen table, and also was good with the .22 rifle.
    After Max died in 1981, Ina moved to Thief River Falls and went to school to be a home health aide. She worked for Inter County Nursing Service for several years and she also took up wood carving.
    Ina enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans, played bingo when she had a chance and loved to dance.  Ina’s family and friends will miss her quick wit, one liners and her hugs for everyone.  
    She was a member of Ekelund Lutheran Church near Highlanding and was active with the Ladies Aid.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Max; infant daughter, Lois in 1950; son, Dennis in 1998; son, Jerry in 2005; grandson, John Frederick in 1989; great-granddaughter, Alliya Jensen in 2000; parents; sister, Elna Swanson; brother, Earl Crown; daughter-in-law, Teresa Jensen; and nephew, Ronald Jorgensen.
