Thief River Falls – Florence Lykken, 86, of Thief River Falls, died peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls.
    Funeral services were held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with burial at the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
    Florence Marion Jarshaw was born on January 14, 1931 in New Solum Township, Marshall County, the daughter of Alfred Toldeus and Tillie Pauline (Langlie) Jarshaw. She was baptized and confirmed at the Rindal Lutheran Church in New Solum Township.  She started at the Busy Bee Country School, then to Holt Elementary and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1949.  
    On May 8, 1953, Florence was united in marriage to Donald D. Myers at Rindal Lutheran Church. They made their home in Thief River Falls, and to this union three daughters were born: Penelope, Pamela and Patricia. Donald died in the line of duty in February of 1962.
    On November 22, 1969, Florence married Donald G. Lykken at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home in Red Lake Falls, on Donald’s farm along with his five children, Thomas, Mary Beth, Daniel, Donn and Ann. She enjoyed many happy years with Donald creating and taking pride in the “North 40” near Middle River.
    In 1972, the family moved back to Thief River Falls where Florence lived the rest of her life.
    Florence worked for over 30 years cooking at the American Legion Post 117 in Thief River Falls along with her sister, Ferne Bruggeman. She retired in 1993.
    She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, canning, cleaning, grubbing, playing bingo and in her younger years enjoyed bowling, singing in the Auxiliary Choir and playing cards.  She loved to visit with her family and friends.
    Florence was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and the Turtle Club.
    Survivors include children, Penny (Dan Anthony) Myers of Minneapolis, Pam (Dean) Joppru of Thief River Falls, Patty (Chuck) Spicer of Thief River Falls, Tom (Yvonne) Lykken of Fargo, ND, Mary Beth (Fran) Vaudrin of Armour, SD, Dan (Susie) Lykken of Warroad, Ann (Larry) Wold of Armour, SD; grandchildren, Cindy, Randy, Dawn, Dylan, Lindsey, Trevor, Rachel, DeNae, Eric, Priscilla, Adam, Andrew, Alex, Hannah, Gracie; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Irene Holmstrom and Ferne Bruggeman both of Thief River Falls; sisters-in-law, Kathy Jarshaw, Genevieve Jarshaw, Margie Jarshaw; and many other relatives and friends.
    She is preceded in death by her husbands; parents; son, Little Donn; grandson, Kory Joppru; sister, Pearl (Nels) Boe; brothers, Maynard Jarshaw, Elmer (Delores) Jarshaw, Sam (Malada) Jarshaw, Irvin Jarshaw and James Jarshaw; brothers-in-law, Ray Holmstrom and LeRoy Bruggeman.
